Salisbury is a freight hub offering easy connectivity to major road, rail, sea and air freight facilities.

Positioned at the centre of Adelaide’s major transport networks, Salisbury offers close proximity to the Port of Adelaide and Adelaide Airport. The Adelaide-Darwin rail link passes through the city and Parafield Airport, Adelaide’s ‘second’ airport offers training and commercial services which is located within Salisbury.

Major highways and road transport links also centre on Salisbury and another $10 billion worth of infrastructure development is scheduled for the region, including intermodal freight facilities which links rail and road transport to the recently opened Northern Expressway. Salisbury is also a site of heavy investment in telecommunications infrastructure such as high speed broadband and optic fibre networks.

The City of Salisbury is only 15 kilometres from the central business district of Adelaide.

The strategic location of Salisbury and its close access to transport networks is why companies like DHL, Toll NQX, Linfox, Kimberly Clark have invested heavily in warehouses making Salisbury their freight and logistics hub in South Australia.

The Northern Expressway and Port Wakefield Upgrade

The recently opened Northern Expressway and Port Wakefield upgrade is a $550 Million investment will be a new 23 kilometre road linking the Gawler Bypass with Port Wakefield Road. This investment will provide significant benefits to the northern regional economy and efficiency of freight movements. The expressway will improve access to the City of Salisbury for freight transport travelling via the Sturt Highway. This includes freight coming from key areas such as the Barossa Valley and the Riverland. Once linked with the Port River Expressway, there will be predicted travel time savings of up to 20 minutes between the Sturt Highway at Gawler and the Port of Adelaide South Australia’s main shipping port.
